I remember back when I was just a lad
We took off and went fishing, me and Dad
He helped me put the bait on my hook
Then I went and dropped the bait in the brook
And it was “Fish on!”
I was so excited
A trout on my line
And Dad was so delighted
It was “Fish on!”
The most fun I’ve had
I sure was a lucky boy
Those were good times, Dad
I got bigger and we fished the wild river
When we wanted salmon, Dad would deliver
He’d stand there for hours, drifting it just right
Till a big old fish would hit, and put up a hell of a fight
And it was “Fish on!”
I was so excited
A salmon on his line
And we were so delighted
It was “Fish on!”
The most fun I’ve had
I sure was a lucky boy
Those were good times, Dad
Even now sometimes at the end of the week
We’ll pack our fishing gear and head up to the creek
Tie on a couple of flies, try a couple of casts
If Lady Luck is with us, it’ll happen pretty fast
And it’s “Fish on!”
We’re still excited
A trout on the line
And we’re so delighted
‘Cause it’s “Fish on!”
The most fun we’ve had
We sure are lucky boys
These are good times, Dad
We sure are lucky boys
These are good times, Dad
We sure are lucky boys
These are good times, Dad
